Frequently Asked Questions for the NOVAtime 3000 Time & Attendance System

          -  No.  NOVAtime 3000 does not require a dedicated server. 

 

           - NOVAtime enables you to restrict the IP addresses that each employee is allowed to use and / or you are able to run a number of audit reports that will identify the IP addresses that an employee is using.  In this way, you can quickly identify any inappropriate actions

 

            - Not typically.  NOVAtime 3000 includes Microsoft SQL Express at no added cost.  SQL Express has no limit on the number of users; however, it is limited to 1 Gg of memory usage and a single processor.  In some cases, you may wish to use full SQL in order to take full advantage of your server's horsepower, but that is your decision

 

                - No.  NOVAtime 3000 WEB SERVICES only require that the remote PC have a web browser installed.  All NOVAtime 3000 software and updates are loaded only at the main server and all remote PCs access the latest version via the existing WEB or VPN connection

 

            - Via your company's VPN you can limit your employees to internal addresses or to NOVAtime WEB SERVICES only.  Should you use the WEB rather than a VPN, your IT department can arrange certain PC(s) to only have rights to access certain addresses

 

            - NOVAtime remote WEB SERVICES will always show / use the main server time for punch times regardless of the 'local' PC time.  However, the local employee will see the appropriate time based on their time zone.  In this way, you will always be assured that the time data is absolutely accurate and all employees' time is recorded uniformly

 

            - NOVAtime enables you to identify the home office time zone and then the appropriate time zone for each office or employee.  NOVAtime will then make the proper adjustment

 

            - NOVAtime enables you to block out any sensitive information you wish so that it can only be viewed by the individuals you select

 

            - Yes.  You can easily integrate the two so that the network login and password will work for both your network and NOVAtime.  This means if you change your employee's network login & / or password it automatically is updated in NOVAtime and employees will not need to remember two (2) logins

 

            - NOVAtime also enables your workforce to request time-off, complete with attached free form notes / explanations, via the WEB or VPN.  Managers are then alerted to the request and can grant or deny the time-off and respond to the employee electronically.  The approved days are then automatically marked in the employee's timesheet so when the date arrives they are identified as on vacation, PTO, etc. rather than Absent.

In addition, NOVAtime can give employees up-to-date access to their hours worked, schedules, benefit hours accrued / available / used, etc.  This feature alone will save management a significant amount of time since they no longer need to field inquiries from their employees.
